Loretta Lux

I am a die hard fan of Art and ghosts .
Her work inspires and awes me. I love the super haunting super real feel of the images and respond to it on a very deep level. Tonight I found this artist browsing around and following links. Her name is Loretta Lux and her photos are amazing. The quality of them is absolutely ethereal. Beautiful and worth a visit if you like your art a little beyond the blue horizon.

When I grow up I want to create like they do...

This little light of mine...

let it shine, let it shine, let it shine!

Xhosa mamma

I've been begging Xhosa-mamma for a photo of her little girl. She was born on 17 July 2007 almost a month late. The photo never materialized. Last week we bought her a Christmas gift that was to big to carry home on the train, a friend brought her over today to fetch it and she brought her little baby with her. What a cutie, she is as light as a feather compared to our little giant. She has a ridiculously huge name for such a little person - Khotsofatsa!

A much better view

I was out early this morning to go to market, and bought some lovely sparkley bits for all the windows to amuse J and to buy a magadget to keep the logs next to the fire.

I've been on Superhubby to buy a new car seat for the speedy_bambino for weeks. We finally went out today and bought the seats. Now I can see that gorgeous little face when R is driving and bebe can see me when I am driving. He has taken to smiling for the camera which his snap happy mamma loves.
He can also see out the window and clearly enjoys the view very much. Every day with this little man is a joy. We also bought a mini baby gym but neither of us have enough breath to blow the thing up. So off we go tomorrow to buy a pump.

About last night

My Pullip doll Holly, tragically lost her arm while crossing the road in Naples, Italy. She has been waiting for her new body since we returned in October. The body arrived yesterday and I proceeded to perform open doll surgery. It was very stressful. Hubby had to wipe my brow and keep her anesthetized. If you have a sensitive stomach look away now... .

don't say I didn't warn you!

Alas turns out Mistress (that would be me) ordered the wrong body for poor Holly and now a new effort will have to be made when the new body arrives.

Extreme embroidery

I had a quiet day looking mostly after my supabunnyboy. XhosaMamma took her bambino to the clinic so I was on my own. It was tough. I took him upstairs only once and had to have him lay on the bed next to me while I recovered. Heart pumping a hundred miles an hour. And then the saint arrived, XhosaMamma came in at 11:30 she really is a wonderful. She was worried because I was out like a light most of yesterday.

Anyhow found this very interesting article about Ray Materson an ex-prisoner who does some amazing embroidery, the scale of it is just mind boggling:

Materson's work is remarkable -- 1,000 stitches
per square inch in pieces measuring just 3 inches
by 4 inches --

The cuff

I've been wearing the dreaded 24 hour blood pressure machine since yesterday. I had mine fitted the same time as a woman who was so old she had newts in her hair. Really does it for my self esteem.

It's not a good looking piece of equipment and by last night it was as smelly as a hobo's armpit. I fear I messed the whole process up when I was accidentally (no really) fiddling with it and it restarted. While I had a shower superhubby offered to keep it going around his wing-wang in case it went off *eyes up*!

Anyway I peppered it with talc in the hope that the smell would dissipate and went to sleep with a strong sleeping tablet. The thing sounds like a space shuttle taking off when it measures your BP and attacks your arm like a starving anaconda. Had a lovely snooze till 04:30 when Juan started his morning sermon and found the cuff around my wrist. So much for 24 hours. It had to be returned promptly at 09:00 and superhub dropped it off for me.

I'll have to wear it again I'm sure since most of the readings were so off the charts high I'm sure they will think I broke the thing.

Beautiful Roses and rooms of gifts

I took Juan to 'Kamers vol geskenke' or translated 'Rooms full of gifts'. I did my shopping the previous day and just went back to take photos and treat Juan to a picnic. He was his usual charming self and no women was able to resist him.

The decorations of both the garden and the rooms were lovely and apart from spending way way too much money I took these photographs.

Market season

It's market season in the Southern Hemisphere. Although the weather has been cold and wet the past few days almost all the markets are back in full swing and so many beautiful handmade things are being sold. But how wonderful is this - an online market with the most gorgeous goodies - Poppy Talk Handmade.

I am updating my bookmarks, a fantastic way to procrastinate and reacquaint myself with my favorite blogs and sites.

The only pretty thing I did today was to buy these 3 jars for the bargain price of R16/$2.40 each at Mileu.
In them are all the diet sweeties. The pink one smells like baby's breath.

All the little bears

This one is right at the door and is a reminder for mommy not
baby...

Quiet

I have been quiet because I have been in a lot of pain. I found out I have Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. I've seen the Chiropractor twice but it is clear to me that he is not familiar with the Webster Technique and that there is probably not one Chiropractor in South Africa who is familiar with the procedure. Since the Technique is taught in a 17 hour course I hardly think it's something you can wing... I am wearing a special belt for support and it helps a lot.

I finished reading The Apprentice
, Body Double, and Vanish . I enjoyed the series tremendously and my mother was right now I am finding it hard to get into a new book.
I enjoyed all the books but the interesting thing about Body Double, and Vanishwas that in Body Double pregnant woman were abducted and in Vanish one of the main characters actually had a baby. I really enjoyed it. When you've read all the books it is hard to believe that the characters doesn't actually live somewhere in Boston, Tess Gerritsen paints pretty realistic characters.

Go'on test yourself

It is so hot, we both had trouble sleeping last night. In the day time I just don't
want to go out. I had a headache from the moment I left the house till late last
night and I'm sure it's just the dreaded heat. Staying indoors allows for reading
and painting bears although it is rather hot upstairs as well. I finished
The Surgeon: A Novel last night. Thoroughly enjoyable and I will probably start
The Apprentice today. We also did a interesting personality test yesterday and
I thought our results were accurate. Take the Jung-Myers-Briggs test. I joined
a Forum for HSP's which should be interesting. If you think you might be a Highly
Sensitive person start reading here HSP.

My boys

Our little boy in the womb is 30 weeks this week.

I found out the dreaded clumsiness that has been torturing me all weekend
is due to extra hormones that make my joints more flexible, lovely when
your a gymnast I'm sure.

I found this photo this morning and it's just too gorgeous.
I love my boys!

Reading

I read 'The Mephisto Club' on Saturday and enjoyed it very much. My mom's been
a fan of Tess Garritsen for a while so we've managed to collect most of her books.
I remember starting The Surgeon: A Novel but not finishing it for some reason.
I started it again yesterday and am looking forward to mowing my way through
all the books in this series.

We have a cot

We set up the cot and it looks so pretty.
I heard t was really difficult and complicated but we did it in under 1/2 hour so
I don't see what the fuss is about.

Bears on the wall

These are the bears on one wall of the nursery. It takes quite a bit of time to get them on the
wall but after the first two I developed some strategies to help the process on. Carbon paper and since the bears have to be painted in a few times before the blue is covered I started doing more than one at a time. Saves oodles of time. I'm so happy with the result. Hope the baby will like it!

The bear hanging on the line was also finished today. It's so cute. The others I finished in the
previous weeks. It's getting a bit uncomfortable to go out to shops as my tummy is quite big.
I painted my toe nails last night but it's like painting over an exercise ball!

These are the last two bears of 3 I finished today. One wall is done completely now. I am very pleased with how they came out and already started the opposite wall.

The kid lost his name again

After really being set on Dylan Christopher we now, yet again decided it doesn't work for us.
Only 9 weeks left and the child remains nameless. When I told R I had my doubts about Dylan,
he said: "Well actually, so do I"

It is very funny and also frustrating. I'm sure we'll come up with something.

I have started altering this handbag. My first idea failed but I'm on track now.

Just jump in!

One day, I just decided I didn't need my swimming wings anymore. My dad was mowing the lawn so I knew I had a life preserver in place should I need it. I told him that I was going to take my swimming wings off and that he should watch. I took them off and jumped in. The water closed over my head and I held my breath. I knew instantly that I was going to be fine. I stayed under the water for as long as I could and pushed myself upward when I needed breath. The first thing I did when I broke the water was to look at my dad.

Did he see me?
He was moving the lawn.
I asked him: "Did you see, I did it!" and he said:
" Yes I saw".
